About work experiences, small beginnings, and many more
Question 1: Hi Thierry, can you share your professional journey and how it paved the way to establishing TJC Group?
Answer: Hi, so I started my professional journey by working in the USA for almost 3 years as a consultant with Andersen Consulting, which is now known as Accenture. After working there for some time, my desire to settle down in my own country brought me back to my hometown in France in 1997. Then I started my own company, Thierry Julien Conseil (TJC) Group, which initially offered real manufacturing software for organisations. However, if we talk about the company now, it has been focused on the SAP niche for more than two decades, which puts value to the S/4HANA migration journey, SAP DRC, data archiving, SAF-T, DVM, SAP ILM, system decommissioning and retention management, among others.
Question 2: Your technical understanding is clearly a key aspect of your leadership. How does this influence your decisions and the direction of TJC Group today?
Answer: Having a technical lens is invaluable. It allows me to really understand the technical elements of our solutions and the needs of our clients. I always believe that technical understanding helps make informed decisions and ensures that our innovation is practical and effective. It also helps me interact effectively with our teams and appreciate their expertise.
Question 3: Reflecting on the early days of TJC Group, what were some of the key lessons learned that continue to guide you?
Answer: One of the most important lessons I learned early on was the power of strong relationships. Building trust and nurturing genuine connections with our team, our clients, and our partners has been a crucial part of our journey at TJC Group. This idea of building trust still remains a core principle for me.
Question 4: What do you find most fulfilling about leading TJC Group, and what inspires you in your role?
Answer: Seeing the positive impact our work has on our clients and witnessing the growth and development of our team is incredibly rewarding. Knowing that we’re building something meaningful together and our people are passionate about what they do – that’s what truly inspires me. In fact, while answering this question, I remembered this favourite quote of mine by Vauvenargues: “It takes a genius to know what to do, it takes talent to know how to do it, but it takes virtue to truly do what needs to be done”.
Question 5: Outside of your professional responsibilities at TJC Group, what things do you enjoy doing in your personal time?
Answer: It’s important to have interests outside of work to recharge. Aside from my responsibilities at TJC Group, I find reading, particularly books, articles, and blogs based on the latest technologies, very interesting. Apart from reading, I also like to write. If you visit my LinkedIn profile, you’ll find articles that I have authored.
